Sheffield’s exclusive Radiance Whitening system
Radiance Whitening is our most popular cosmetic dental treatment. Created by Dr Fahad Khan, made in the UK and available exclusively at The Smile Designers, it combines professional assessment, precise digital planning and personal support to help suitable patients achieve the best result their teeth can reasonably reach.
This is completely different from generic whitening strips, pens and one-size-fits-all trays sold on the high street. Before treatment, we assess your dental health, restorations and type of discolouration. If we do not believe whitening is likely to produce a worthwhile improvement, we will look at alternative options.
Your Radiance Whitening journey
1. Assess and plan
We assess your teeth, existing restorations, starting shade and staining. A digital scan helps us identify where a shade improvement could create the greatest visible impact.
2. Choose your Radiance experience
Choose precision at-home whitening or our fastest, professionally supervised in-surgery system. We will recommend the option that best fits your teeth, timetable and goals.
3. Professional support
You receive a clear protocol, professional guidance and adjustments for sensitive teeth or individual problem areas, so you are not left to work everything out alone.

Radiance Whitening FAQs
Answers to the questions patients most often ask before starting professional teeth whitening in Sheffield.
How is Radiance different from whitening bought on the high street?
Radiance is a dentist-supervised whitening system with a professional assessment, digital scan, personalised plan, precision-made trays, exclusive UK-made gel and clinical support. Generic strips, pens and trays do not provide this level of assessment, fit, planning or adjustment.
Explore finance optionsHow much does Radiance Whitening cost?
Radiance At-Home Whitening costs £400. Radiance Instant In-Surgery Whitening costs £1,000. A combined hygiene clean and Airflow stain-removal appointment is available as a recommended £200 add-on when appropriate.
What is included with the £400 at-home system?
It includes your suitability assessment, digital scan and plan, custom whitening trays, four syringes of UK-made Radiance gel, a clear step-by-step protocol, professional support and adjustments for sensitivity or individual areas.
What is included with the £1,000 instant system?
It includes a detailed assessment, our exclusive in-surgery formulation and process, approximately 90 minutes of supervised whitening, digital scans, custom home trays, two syringes of take-home whitening gel, a personalised home protocol and ongoing support.
Will whitening work for everyone?
No. Results vary according to the teeth, starting shade, cause of discolouration, existing restorations and how closely the process is followed. We assess suitability first and will advise against treatment if we do not expect a worthwhile result.
Is Airflow and hygiene preparation essential?
No. The £200 preparation appointment is recommended when surface staining, plaque or deposits are present and likely to affect the result, but it is not essential for every patient. We will advise you honestly.
Is professional teeth whitening safe?
Professional whitening is considered safe for suitable patients when it is prescribed following a dental assessment and used according to the instructions provided. It does not involve drilling or removing enamel. We check your teeth and gums first, protect the surrounding tissues during in-surgery treatment and adjust the protocol if sensitivity develops.
Does teeth whitening damage enamel?
Professional teeth whitening does not remove enamel. The whitening gel works within the tooth to break down discolouration rather than filing, polishing or drilling the tooth surface. Problems are more likely when unsuitable or unregulated products are used incorrectly, which is why we assess suitability and provide a clear protocol.
How long do teeth whitening results last?
Whitening is not permanent, but results can last from several months to a few years. Longevity varies with your starting shade, oral hygiene, smoking and how often you have staining drinks such as tea, coffee or red wine. Keeping your custom trays allows professionally advised top-ups when required.
Will teeth whitening work on crowns, veneers, fillings or composite bonding?
No. Whitening gel lightens natural teeth but does not change the colour of crowns, veneers, fillings, implants or composite bonding. We assess visible restorations before treatment because they may need to be polished, adjusted or replaced after your new tooth shade has stabilised if a colour mismatch remains.
How quickly will I see teeth whitening results?
With at-home Radiance Whitening, the change develops gradually as you follow your personalised protocol, allowing you to stop when the shade feels right for you. With Radiance Instant In-Surgery Whitening, many suitable patients see a visible improvement during one appointment of approximately 90 minutes. The degree and speed of change vary between patients.
